4-axis machining center

Classic 4-axis Machining Center

A four-axis CNC machining center adds an additional rotational axis to the traditional three-axis machining center, commonly referred to as the A-axis (rotation around the X-axis), B-axis (rotation around the Y-axis), or C-axis (rotation around the Z-axis), depending on its configuration and design. This extra rotational axis allows the workpiece to rotate around an axis during the machining process, enabling the machining of complex surfaces, angled surfaces, and multi-face machining. The four-axis CNC machining center greatly enhances machining flexibility and capability, making it efficient in completing more complex machining tasks.

Design Features

  • Additional Rotational Axis: By adding a rotational axis, four-axis machining centers allow for the rotation of the workpiece or tool around an axis, providing more machining angles.
  • Complex Structure: To ensure precise control of the rotational axis and the overall stability of the machine, four-axis CNC machining centers are designed with high rigidity to maintain high accuracy during complex machining processes.
  • Automatic Tool Change System: Equipped with an efficient Automatic Tool Change system (ATC), allowing the machine to quickly change tools according to machining requirements, further enhancing production efficiency.
  • Advanced CNC System: Utilizes high-performance CNC systems that support complex programming and precise motion control, meeting the needs of complex machining tasks.

Machining Capabilities

  • Complex Shape Machining: Four-axis machining centers can machine complex three-dimensional surfaces and irregular shapes, suitable for mold making, aerospace parts, and artistic engravings.
  • Multi-face Machining in One Setup: Capable of completing multi-face machining tasks in a single setup, reducing the number of workpiece setups, and improving machining precision and efficiency.
  • Angled and Helical Machining: The additional rotational axis enables the machine to easily handle angled machining, helical machining, and more, widely used in gear machining, propeller manufacturing, etc.

Application Fields

Due to their excellent machining flexibility and capability, four-axis CNC machining centers are widely used in fields requiring high precision and complex machining:

  • Mold Manufacturing: Machining various complex molds, such as plastic molds, die casting molds, and forging molds.
  • Automotive Manufacturing: Making car parts, such as engine components and gearbox casings.
  • Aerospace: Processing aircraft structural parts, engine components, and aviation engine blades.
  • Precision Machinery: Producing parts for medical devices, precision instruments, and electronic products.
