The ordinary lathe machine is the most basic and widely used type in the field of mechanical processing, mainly used for processing various metal and non-metal materials’ rotating surfaces, including cylindrical, conical, end face, groove, thread, and other complex shapes. It is a machine tool that removes material by rotating the workpiece relative to a fixed cutting tool.

Main components:

Bed: Supports and connects all components of the lathe with high rigidity and stability to ensure accuracy during processing.
Headstock: Contains the main spindle and drive system. The main spindle is where the workpiece is mounted and rotated, while the drive system controls the rotation speed of the workpiece.
Tool post: Used to install cutting tools which can be manually or automatically moved along transverse (X-axis) and longitudinal (Z-axis) directions for cutting operations.
Tailstock: Located at the other end of the bed to support the end of longer workpieces ensuring stability during processing. The tailstock can be adjusted according to workpiece length.

Versatility: Ordinary lathes can perform external turning, internal hole boring, facing operations; threading; drilling; tapping; reaming; parting off etc.
